The organ at St. Pankratius in Hamburg-Ochsenwerder has a rich history dating back to 1707/08 when Arp Schnitger built the original instrument with two manuals and 30 stops. The organ underwent several significant changes over the centuries. In 1783, Joachim Wilhelm Geycke repaired it. In 1884-85, Christian Heinrich Wolfsteller modernized the organ.

In 1911, Paul Rother transformed the organ to feature pneumatic cone chests, added two stops, and installed a new console. A major reconstruction occurred in 1966 by Rudolf von Beckerath Orgelbau, who built a new instrument with two manuals and 24 stops within the historical casing, utilizing some of the original pipework. According to sources, five stops are entirely original from Schnitger, five partially, and one stop, the Quintadena 8', is even older.
