Pehr Zacharias Strand, born on June 30, 1797, in Klara Parish, Stockholm, was a renowned Swedish organ builder. He was the son of Pehr Strand, the director of an organ-building company, and Rebecca Nordström. Strand received his initial training from his father and in 1820, he was awarded a state scholarship to study abroad. He later received Royal Privilege as an organ builder. In 1830, he traveled to Skåne to inspect organ constructions in various churches and offered critiques of the work by the self-taught organ builder Grönvall. Strand also promoted his work through advertisements in publications like Lunds Weckoblad and had an agent, Em. Wenster, in Lund to help sell his organ models.
By 1834, Strand and his family were residing in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, where they lived until his death. Despite facing bankruptcy in 1842, Strand and his creditors assured that all contracts would be honored and that new orders could still be placed. Pehr Zacharias Strand passed away on February 25, 1844, at the home of C. L. Lindberg, an organologist and priest in Kumla Parish, Närke, while he was working on a new organ. He was buried on March 7, 1844, in Kumla churchyard. Strand was married to Sophia Antoinetta Strand, and they had two daughters, Sofia Magdalena Henrietta and Charlotta Rebecka.
