J E Dodd built over 80 new instruments and rebuilt and renovated more than 20 others. Dodd's contribution to the art of organbuilding in Australia was a conception of the romantic- symphonic organ for orchestral transcriptions and quick changes for colour effects. His organs were all about tone colour and rarely chorus work.
