The organ at St. Laurentius in Loxstedt-Dedesdorf was originally built by Arp Schnitger in 1698, featuring 12 manual stops and an attached pedal. Over the centuries, it underwent various modifications and repairs. From 1742 to 1745, Eilert Köhler added a pedal with six stops, made minor changes to the disposition, and altered the tuning. In 1838, Gerhard Janssen Schmid replaced the pedal mixture with a Subbass 16’ and implemented equal temperament.

The organ's tin prospect pipes were surrendered for war purposes in 1917. Furtwängler & Hammer replaced these pipes in 1934. Alfred Führer installed new tin prospect pipes in 1957 and repaired the trumpet in 1963, followed by partial restorations in 1973 and 1990. A significant restoration took place in 1998/99 under Heiko Lorenz at Alfred Führer's workshop, including renewing the prospect pipes according to Schnitger’s original design.
