The St. Nicolai (St. Romanus) Church in Borstel, OT Jork, features an organ originally built in the 16th century. The organ was initially situated beside the altar but was later relocated to the west gallery by Johann Paul Geycke between 1770 and 1771. During this relocation, Geycke incorporated much of the original pipework into the new structure and added a new pedal division. This instrument has undergone various modifications over the centuries, including significant work by Arp Schnitger in 1677 and Philipp Furtwängler in 1848-49. The latter replaced the Brustwerk with a Hinterwerk and revoiced the pipes.

In 1993, the Gebr. Hillebrand company restored the organ to its original 18th-century configuration. However, in 2011, the instrument was found to be suffering from lead corrosion, leading to further restoration work by Hillebrand to preserve the valuable historic pipework. The organ, with its blend of historical components and modern restorations, continues to be a significant cultural and musical asset for the church.
