The organ in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brake was built by Philipp Furtwängler and Sons in 1865. The church itself was constructed between 1858 and 1862 by Otto Lasius Jr., based on a design by Carl Ferdinand Busse. The Furtwängler organ features 27 registers spread across two manuals and a pedalboard. Its design includes distinctive elements such as a swell for the upper manual and couplers between manuals and pedal.

Throughout the years, the organ underwent several renovations to preserve its historical value. Notably, Alfred Führer conducted significant restoration work in 1959 and 1970, maintaining eleven of the original registers. These restorations involved replacing damaged wooden pipes, modifying the organ’s disposition, adding a new console, and installing new bellows and wind channels. Despite these changes, the core character and historical integrity of the Furtwängler organ have been preserved, ensuring its continued use and appreciation within the church community.
