The St. Aegidius Church in Berne houses a historically significant organ originally built by Reinhartt von Lampeler in 1594, with subsequent additions and modifications by Harm Kröger in 1642 and Christian Vater in 1714. This organ showcases a rich history of craftsmanship and modifications spanning several centuries, reflecting the evolving styles and techniques of organ building.

The organ's initial construction in 1594 by von Lampeler included nine stops on a single manual. In 1642, Kröger added a Rückpositiv and a pedal division, significantly expanding its capabilities. The 1714 restoration by Christian Vater included a new Hauptwerk case and the replacement of three stops in the manual divisions. Later enhancements by Georg Wilhelm Wilhelmy in 1793 further altered the instrument, replacing the Rückpositiv with a Hinterwerk and expanding the Hauptwerk and Pedalwerk. The most recent restorations aimed to return the organ to its historical configuration, preserving its rich heritage and unique sound.
