The first Catholic wooden church in Bērzgale stood where the current church is located, but neither its builder nor its construction date are known. The present church was constructed in 1770 with the financial support of Baroness Manteifel and consecrated in 1776. There is no information available about the previous organs. The current instrument, built by F. Ostromecki of Vilnius in 1891, is situated on the balcony in a unique orientation, slightly set back from the parallel edge of the balcony.
A brass plaque engraved with the author, year, and place of construction adorns the organ's console.
