The pipe organ was constructed by Paul Müller of Spandau in 1608 for the German Church in Stockholm. When it was deemed outdated there, it was purchased by the congregation in 1779 and reconstructed by organ builder Mathias Svahlberg in Övertornea in 1780. However, the organ's original rear-positive was separately installed in Hietaniemi Church (Övertorneå parish) but was reportedly destroyed in a church fire on September 26, 2023. The organ was not in operation from 1934 to 1971 as a pneumatic instrument from Grönlund organ builders was utilized during this time. A first restoration occurred in 1971, establishing a new pedal work by the same workshop. An extensive restoration and reconstruction was carried out between 1991 and 1999 under the management of Hans-Ola Ericsson and Harald Vogel. In 2004, a faithful replica of the organ was installed in the German Church in Stockholm (including the re-integration of the surviving rear-positive). The organ underwent several changes before it was meticulously renovated and restored to its 1780 condition by Grönlunds organ builders between 1991 and 1999.
