The organ was constructed by an unknown builder around 1550. In 1775, a pedal was added as per the Ars Organi, and some registers were replaced. These works were credited to the organ builder Lars Strömblad from Ödeshög (1743-1807). The pedal with a tonal range of C-g° was first mentioned in 1786.
In 1845, the organ was renovated by John Magnusson from Nässja, who expanded the tonal range of the manual to f³ and complemented the short octave.
Another restoration took place in 1952 by the Moberg brothers from Sandviken, during which the cymbal star and the tremulant were reconstructed. The tuning was in choir pitch with uneven temperature.
The organ was cleaned in 1967 by the Scandinavian Organ Service from Hovmantorp. During this, the tuning was reset to an equal-tempered scale.
