The organ was initially built by Johann Georg Heßler in 1760/62, with 28 registers on the main work (12), upper work (8), and pedal work (8). After several minor repairs and alterations, a significant redesign was conducted by Karl Kemper under Hans Henny Jahnn's supervision in 1930. This redesign involved converting the old upper work into the chest work, and a new upper work was added. In 1964, a repair was performed and by 1974/77, Klaus Becker had fitted the organ with historic pipes and undertook a restoration of the wind chests in 1984/85.
In this process, a new player's desk was installed, and the tractions were renewed in a mechanical construction manner. An overhaul was conducted by Mühleisen Organ Builders in Leonberg in 2010. In 2019, this workshop installed a new electric register traction with a setter system and revised the play traction.
According to documented works on the organ over the years:
- In 1830, 1876/77, 1888, 1910, and 1964, repairs or restorations were made.
- In 1917, the facade pipes were removed.
- In 1930, Kemper reformed the organ: relocated the upper work to chest work and installed a new upper work.
- In 1974/77, the organ was equipped with historic pipes, potentially by Klaus Becker.
- In 1984/85, Becker also restored the wind chests, installed a new player's desk, renewed the mechanical tractions, and changed the manual distribution to OW = I, HW = II, BW = III.
- The workshop at Mühleisen conducted a cleaning and maintenance in 2010. And, in 2019, the same workshop modified the traction system, adjusted manual distribution (HW = I, BW = II, OW = III), and installed a setter unit.
