Joseph Looser, born in 1749 in Blomberg, was the second of six children to master Wändel Looser and Rosina Suter. He was baptized in the evangelical church at Krummenau and early on, assisted his father in organ building, contributing to significant projects like the church organ for Nesslau in 1777 and a house organ for Ammann Egli in Burgau-Flawil. Joseph eventually produced around 50 house organs from his workshop. He also held several community roles, including the position of Gemeindeammann. His business acumen is detailed in a "Rechenbuch" he began in 1776, recording financial transactions, organ orders, client details, and work specifications, offering a comprehensive view of his activities and financial dealings as an organ builder.
